Yoga and Sports Tennis

Yoga and Sports: Tennis

Tennis requires cat-like reflexes with short bursts of strength. These short movements do not allow the muscles to extend their full length. When muscles are strenuously worked they become tight and can lose their elasticity unless properly stretched. Yoga exercises can increase the body’s range of motion. The lack of movement because of inflexibility binds the joints. Without the elasticity of the muscles, I think an athlete can be a prisoner within his own body.

Using yoga techniques makes it possible to retrain the muscles. Most tennis athletes play in a constant state of muscle tension. Yoga trains the body to relax muscle tension. Learning to begin your game in a relaxed state could mean gaining an extra step on the ball.

When in a ready position muscles are contracted and ready for action. To move, muscles must be relaxed and then contracted again to spring in any direction. By retraining the muscles you begin from a relaxed position, giving a quickened reaction time.

Yoga breathing exercises can help improve endurance and stamina. When exerting in sports or exercise we often hold the breath as a way to create strength. Yoga trains the body to create strength through breathing control. Holding the breath at points of exertion takes a great deal of energy that could be used during long sets or matches.

Learning the correct way while doing a yoga pose is simple. Exhale during the execution of a pose until you feel the muscles’ full length of stretch (maximum resistance). Never hold your breath. Breathe normally and listen to the body. Hold for 30 seconds, then release the pose slowly. By constant practice of yoga poses you’ll soon apply breathing techniques in everyday routines.

A simple spine twist is excellent for rotational sports. It can help increase needed flexibility of the shoulders and back and hips. Remember to apply the breathing technique to this pose.

Begin the spine twist by sitting on the floor with both legs straight out in front of you. Keeping the spine straight, bend the left leg placing the left foot on the outside of the right knee. Now, place the left hand on the floor behind you with your arm straight and the right elbow bent. Positioned on the outside of the left thigh place the right hand on the left hip.

Slowly exhale while turning the head and upper body to the left, looking over the left shoulder. Pressure from the right arm should keep the left leg stationary while pressure from the left arm and torso gives you the twist. Stronger use of both arms increases the twist. Hold this pose for 30 seconds and repeat twist on the opposite side.

A total body conditioning and flexibility routine is essential for the avid tennis player. Yoga techniques could be the edge you need in developing your game.

Five tips about football boots

Five tips about football boots Use these tips to help ensure you get the football boots that suit you best.

1. Studs There are three types of studs: screw-in, blades and moulded. Your choice usually depends on two things: the surface you most frequently play on, and whether you want to change the studs rather than the type of boot to match the surface.

Screw-in studs let you adapt your boots according to the playing conditions. Use long studs in your boots if the ground is wet and soft. For a dry pitch, use short studs.

Bladed studs are ideal for ground that’s neither too soft nor too hard. You can buy boots with interchangeable bladed studs, however, for soft and hard surfaces.

Moulded studs are great for dry ground. There are also more moulded studs on the sole of a boot than bladed studs and screw-ins. These extra studs can help your balance.

2. Material There’s a lot of debate about the best material for football boots. Essentially, you have a choice of synthetics; a composite polyurethane/leather mix; leather; and kangaroo skin.

Synthetic material isn’t necessarily cheap because it varies in quality. Inexpensive synthetic boots, for instance, can soon deteriorate; expensive synthetics are tough, durable and soft.

Generally speaking, though, synthetics don’t match the way good leather boots mould themselves to your feet. The best leather for this is kangaroo skin.

A composite polyurethane/leather mix can be a good value alternative but the boots won’t last as long as a leather pair.

3. Position of laces You may have your own preference for laces to run across the top of your boots or down the side. However, many footballers believe that laces down the side give the top of your feet a flatter area for more accurate ball control.

4. Ask around Ask others about their football boots. Answers to questions such as “Do you feel comfortable in them?” and “What sort of surface do they work best on?” can give you insights into different styles and brands.

Another question to ask is “How long do the boots last?” When you invest in a good pair of boots you want to keep them for as long as possible.

5. Value Price, of course, is at the front of most people’s minds. If you’re on a tight budget, keep an eye open for cheap boots reduced because they’re last season’s style or model. Such football boots can be excellent value.

Rules and regulations of golf

We all know that without rules and regulations there is no game. Every game has its own rules and regulations. The rules of golf {2} {3} are internationally standardized and are jointly governed by the royal and ancient golf club of st.andrews, which was founded in 1754 and the united states of golf association. After the agreement with R&A, USGA jurisdiction on the enforcement and interpretation of the rules is limited to the United States and Mexico. Canada has the separate royal Canadian golf association, but generally follows the lead of the two larger bodies. The rules of golf continue to evolve, and every four years, the amended versions of the rule book are published. Any brand of Golf Equipments can be used. But it is better to go in for Good brands of Golf Equipments
The rules are made keeping in mind fairness. There are few statements stated play the ball as it lies, play the course as you find it, and if you cant do either, do what is fair. Some rules that are stated:
Every player is entitled and obliged to play the ball from position where it has come to rest after the stroke, unless a rule allows or demands otherwise
A player must not accept assistance in making a stroke.
The condition of the ground or other parts of the country may not be altered to gain an advantage except some cases defined in the rules.
A Golf ball may only be replaced by another during play of a hole if it is destroyed (rule 5-3), lost (rule 27-1), or unplayable (rule 28), or at some other time permitted by the rules. The player may always substitute balls between the play of two books.

The decisions on the rules of golf are based on formal case decisions by the R&A and USGA and are revised updated every other year.

Amateur golfers:
There are strict regulations regarding the amateur status of golfers. Anybody who played golf for money or who has ever received payment or compensation for giving instruction in golf game will not be considered an amateur. He may not be allowed to participate in competitions limited only to amateur only non-cash prizes won in competition may be accepted within the limits established by the rules of amateur status.

Golf course architecture and design:

There are many kinds of golf courses. Each country has one kind of golf course. It varies according to the climate, etc.

The different kind of golf courses:

Link courses
Parkland courses
Heath land
Desert courses
Browns courses
Sand courses
Snow courses
Par 3 courses
Executive courses.

1. Links courses: this is the most traditional type of golf course. It is located in the coastal areas, on sandy soil, often amid dunes, with few artificial hazards and few trees if any.
2. Parkland courses: this happens to be in typical inland courses, they often resemble British parks.
3. Heath land: this means less manicured and more open area. They often feature gorse and heather and typically less trees.
4. Desert courses: this course has been recently started in Australia and parts of USA and Middle East. Its a new invention.
5. Browns courses: akin to sand courses, but not much involved in terms of using layers of tar and gavel below the sandy surface layer, to give firmness and support and ensure a consistent bounce/roll.
6. Sand courses: instead of heavily irrigated green, the players play on sand unlike most golf players. Holes are less involved than browns courses. And are only for the casual golfer.
7. Snow courses: can be played in arctic or sub arctic regions during winter. This is a recent invention. Golf is played on snow, typically with an orange colored or any brightly colored ball.
8. Par 3 courses: this course consists entirely of holes with par 3. These are considered a good test of iron shot precision and short game, as the driver is rarely used.
9. Executive courses: the course is generally smaller than the typical 18 hole course.

Developing Your Personality Through Football

Everybody needs to have some recreation from time to time. One way of spending time for recreation is by getting involved in sports. If you want a type of sport that will give you a challenge and will give you a thrilling experience then it is time to play football.

If you want to stand out in the game you need to follow a set of standard routines. You also need to have qualities such as commitment, passion, and most of all discipline in order to excel in the game. You also need to prepare your body for the game by doing workouts.

Playing football will bring many benefits to you. Aside from excitement and enjoyment, this sport will develop your personality and will also teach you how to have commitment and discipline.

Things You Need to Develop to be a Good Player

Endurance is one of the key factors in this sport and you can develop it by doing workouts that enhance your stamina. One of the most vital elements in football is concentration. If you are playing while your mind is somewhere there is a huge probability that you will lose the game. Without concentration, you will never be able to anticipate a pass of a teammate resulting in turnovers and anticipate the moves of your opponent which will allow goals for them. You can develop your concentration through constant participation in the game.

What You Can Learn from Football

Today football superstars serve as an inspiration for many youths and become the source of motivation and encouragement for them. Playing football will not only teach you how to be efficient and competitive as a player but also teach you how to employ the right attitude in the game.

This sport will teach you how to be a team player. Football is not a one man game and in order to win you need to cooperate with your teammates. This will also improve your communication skills since you will need to communicate with your teammates to formulate an effective game plan and execute it as planned.

This game will also teach you how to control your emotions. Emotions play a big role in this sport since it greatly affects the way you play. It is already proven that players who have negative emotions during the game often lose the match. Once you have learned how to stay calm throughout the game, you will have better chances of winning.

The Laws Of Tennis Psychology

Tennis psychology is far more than the effect of certain shots, made or missed, on the player. One can sum up such things by saying that every kill gives confidence, every error tends to destroy it. These things are obvious. The branch of psychology that is interesting is the reaction on the various players of different courts, different crowds, and other players.

I could go on writing tennis psychology as explained by external conditions for hundreds of pages, but all I want to do is to bring to mind a definite idea of the value of the mind in the game. Stimulate it how you will, a successful tennis player must admit the value of quick mind. Do it by a desire for personal glory, or team success, or by a love of competition in matching your wits against the other man’s, but do it some way.

Do, not think that tennis is merely a physical exercise. It is a mental cocktail of a very high “kick.”

Build A Smooth Powerful Golf Swing

To build a smooth powerful swing is within every body’s ability but you must first understand where the power is developed. The common problem that affects most golfers is trying to hit the ball to hard. The fundamental concept to a good swing is that you do not hit the ball but allow the ball to get in the way of your swing. Remember it is a golf swing not a golf hit.By concentrating on hitting the ball you will develop a stabbing motion that is not smooth or powerful.
Lets think of the parts of the swing ,there is a back swing ,a forward or down swing and the finish. Only three basic parts. Now how can we join them together in the most efficient therefore powerful way?

1.The back swing should start gently with the club head low to the ground, the hips and shoulders turning in harmony with the arms, this is a one piece movement although the hips will turn only about thirty degrees, the shoulders up to ninety degrees depending on your flexibility and your arms even further. Note the difference here, this is where the power is built. The hip/shoulder margin is often referred to as the ‘x’ factor because if you placed a shaft across your hips and another across your shoulders and you could look down upon yourself the two shafts would form an x. Restricting the hip turn builds the coil power, think of turning the top of a spring whilst holding the bottom and imagine the potential energy there, it is this energy that provides the power in your swing.

2.The down swing should follow naturally from the back swing, the trunk of your body turning and bringing your arms down on plane back to the impact position. The arms should stay close on the return, with your right elbow almost brushing your hip, this will prevent you from casting the club and hitting a slice. Keep the wrists cocked until the club shaft is parallel to the ground and then uncock them into impact. The timing of this can be checked by holding the club upside down and swinging, you should hear a swishing noise through the impact area and beyond.

3. The finish has to be balanced, weight on the left leg, chest facing the target, head held high and the club over the left shoulder almost laying across the neck. It can help considerably to study the pro’s finish position, my favourite being Ernie Els.Copy the finish position and work in reverse, if you know where you are going to end up it makes the journey there a lot clearer.
Practice these tips and you will build a smooth, powerful swing.
